Can a ground tank leak without water showing outside it?
Yes, if the leak is very slow and soil around the tank absorbs water gradually. We may not see water pooling but notice the tank level drops without use. We test by filling the tank, closing all taps for one hour and measuring the drop.
If the leak is in the pipe leaving the ground tank toward the house, must we dig the floor?
Digging may be needed if the pipe runs directly under the floor slab. We first try closing the pipe at the tank and see if the leak stops. If it continues, the tank itself is leaking, not the pipe.
