How do we tell if the ground tank itself leaks or just the pipes?
We close the tank outlet and fill slowly while watching above the ground tank location. If the tank level drops but the soil stays dry above it, the leak is in the pipes. If moisture or a wet patch appears, the tank itself is leaking.
Can we patch a leak without draining the whole tank?
That depends on the leak location and size. Pipe leaks can be fixed by cutting the pipe and fitting a new coupling. Leaks in the tank wall itself need full drainage, drying, drilling and rewelding or patching.
