Do tree roots pierce drainage pipes or just press on them from outside?
Both happen. Fine roots enter through small cracks in old concrete pipes. Thick roots press and crack plastic pipes. We remove what we can mechanically, but if damage is severe we recommend pipe replacement.
Can tree roots be kept out of the gully without cutting down the trees?
