Can the storm drain run beneath the courtyard without breaking old tiles?
If the soil under the courtyard is soft we can dig the pipe route without breaking tiles. We dig a narrow trench 50cm deep, lay the pipe and backfill with compacted damp soil. This only works if the ground is not rocky.
What if the existing floor trap is blocked before we connect the new line?
We test the trap first by pumping water from above and watching the rate. If blocked we clean it with pressurised water or suggest a new trap beside it, which solves the problem fast and avoids deep digging.
