Should an old floor trap be replaced when installing a new shower?
Only if it is blocked or slow draining. We test it first with rapid discharge and watch whether water pools at the rim. If it passes we do not replace it unless it is too shallow for a new shower head to sit above it.
How long does it take to clear an old floor trap before new shower installation?
Usually half an hour if the buildup is light, but up to a full hour if there is deep blockage. We use a hand plunger and flexible wire rods, then flush the trap with clean high-pressure water.
