Why does water leak from the copper joint under the kitchen despite it looking new?
Sea salt eats copper from the inside faster than the outside. A thin copper joint can corrode deeply inside the pipe before you see signs. We replace it with thicker copper or an insulated plastic pipe instead.
Can the leaking pipe be fixed without lifting floor tiles?
If the leak is from a joint above the floor or in an interior wall, yes. But if it is from pipe directly under tile, we must cut a narrow channel above it, then reset matching tiles where available.
