How do we tell if the solder joint is the leak source and not the pipe itself?
We dry the area completely and watch where water appears under pressure. If it emerges from the exact solder line, that is the source; if it comes from a crack in the copper itself, we replace the whole section.
Can a loose solder joint be fixed without cutting the pipe?
No, because reheating may weaken it further and cause later leaks. We cut the pipe near the joint, remove old solder completely, clean both ends and resolder from scratch.
