What if the old pit is already clogged with silt and sand?
We clear it by hand or vacuum pump before fitting the new pump. If the walls are too badly cracked, we recommend building a new lined pit beside it and connecting the pipes between them.
Where does the discharge line run after the pump?
We run it at least five metres from the building into the street or open ground. If the street is low, we lay the line above ground with a gentle fall to prevent backflow at night.
