Why do we need a sand separator between the pit and pump?
Fine sand falls with groundwater and settles quickly at pit bottom. Pumping directly sucks sand into the pump, clogging internal vanes. The separator lets sand settle in a lower chamber while clean water feeds the pump.
Will the pump clog monthly because of sand?
With a proper separator, most sand never reaches the pump. We inspect the separator quarterly and empty accumulated sand from it. The pump itself stays clean as long as the separator is emptied regularly.
