Does all the asphalt around the manhole need to be removed?
Only a circle wide enough to lift the cover safely and clean the frame. We remove 30 to 40 centimetres around all sides, then relay asphalt after installation.
What if the metal frame has corrosion pits?
If the pits are surface we scrub them with a wire brush. But if they are deep and compromise frame strength the frame must be replaced with a new one of the same outer diameter.
