How do we size the detention tank for a large warehouse?
We measure roof and yard area and multiply by Farwaniya's one-hour rainfall coefficient, approximately 40 mm. The result is water volume that will reach the tank in worst case, and the tank must hold all of it.
Does the detention tank add pressure to soil and footings?
Yes, so we position it at least 1.25 metres from existing footings. We design the tank with reinforced walls and base slab and recommend soil testing before construction to determine foundation thickness needed.
