Can storage yard and courtyard drains connect to the same roof network?
Best to separate them because storage areas may have debris or dirt that clogs pipes. We design separate networks for storage yards with their own pits, and another for clean roof and courtyard surfaces. For very small buildings one combined line with a filter network in the collection pit is acceptable.
What pump type works best for lift stations if the site is very low?
We choose a submersible pump rated at least half horsepower based on total water volume from roof and yards combined. The pump sits in an underground collection pit and runs automatically when water rises above a set level. We install a float switch to operate the pump without manual control.
