Why does drainage need extra height in Sha'ab because of groundwater?
If the trap sits below groundwater level, water enters around the pipes and raises pressure inside. Raising the trap above groundwater prevents this and keeps drainage flowing naturally from house to street.
Can groundwater level be checked before building starts?
Yes, we dig a shallow test well two metres deep and measure water level after a few hours and again after winter rain. This gives us the minimum and maximum groundwater levels across the year.
