Can one steel pipe section be replaced or must the whole network change?
One section can be replaced if rust is confined to one spot. We gauge other pipes first with our meter, and if they are sound we leave the network and change only the weak section.
What if the old steel pipe ruptures while we work on it?
We close the main valve before removing any joint, cutting water only to the homes we work on. If the pipe ruptures we extract all weak pieces and run new pipe slightly longer to avoid weakness at new joints.
