Why is nitrogen used instead of air for testing industrial gas pipes?
Air contains oxygen that reacts with residual oils inside pipes and ignites under high pressure, while nitrogen is completely inert and safe. We fill the pipe with nitrogen and pressurize it slowly to avoid thermal shock.
Do quick-release isolators need the whole plant shut down to install?
No, the quick isolator is installed at its point before the engine or boiler connection, with gas already shut off from the start. After fitting we test the isolator opening and closing ten times to confirm the seal holds.
