Can PEX extend to the garden and outdoor tap?
Yes, but outdoor pipe needs protection from sun and cold. We use thick-walled PEX or run it inside a protective metal sleeve. We test it under full pressure before burying in any channel or underground run.
What if you want to add an extra water heater in a separate wing?
We run a separate cold supply from the meter to the new heater, then a hot line from it to nearby bathrooms. This is better than extending hot water from the main heater over a long distance where it loses heat.
